Scotland under-20 30-17 Italy under-20

Scotland under-20 won their first match of the under-20 6 Nations in front of a bumper crowd (around 1300) at Netherdale in Galashiels tonight.

Some three tries from stand-off Tommy Allan, winger Damian Hoyland and lock and captain Jonny Gray, saw the hosts trump their Italian counterparts, 30-17.

The tries were complimented with three penalties and a conversion from Allan, who commanded the backs well throughout the night and his replacement, Alex Hagart who added two conversions to the Scots tally.

Scotland under-20 pip Scotland Club XV in training match

A spirited second-half performance saw Scotland under-20 beat their Club XV counterparts, 13-12 in a nail-biting training match at Millbrae tonight.

Despite a last gasp try from the Club XV’s winger Rory Steele and them having the bigger try count it was a Tommy Allan penalty and conversion, another penalty from Alex Hagart and a Jonny Gray touchdown that won the game for the youngsters.
