Jonah Sweeney ES2

Jonah has been playing rugby since he was 7. He started playing U8 tag Rugby for Bicester RUFC.

Rugby is a great team game with a lot of passing, tackling and supporting other players.

Tag is a lot of fun and is a way of starting to play rugby with no contact and very little risk of injury. Every year the rules change a little to introduce more features like line-outs, tackling, scrums, then contested scrums and hand offs. The number of players and the size of the pitch increases each year.

This year in U13 Jonah moved to a full sized pitch with a team of 15 players. Jonah has played scrumhalf and wing. Playing on the wing suits Jonah best as he enjoys running and is the current U13 Oxfordshire 80 metres hurdles champion. In October Bicester won the Oxfordshire County Championship with Jonah scoring seven tries in the tournament.

As well as playing for Bicester Jonah has been selected to join the Oxfordshire Elite School of Rugby where he attends regular training sessions.
